Basic information
MICE
MICE is an acronym for Meetings (corporate conferences and seminars), Incentive travel, Conventions (Science council and international conference by international organizations and groups), and Events/Exhibitions (including exhibitions and trade shows). The term collectively refers to business events that entail a large convergence of people. MICE continues to attract attention for its strength at increasing the number of tourists by bringing in people from outside to stay in one region for shared purposes. Having more visitors benefits a variety of tourism sectors in the region, such as accommodations, meals, and souvenir purchases.
MICE transfers participant expenses and event costs that are borne by hosting organizations (reception, venue setup, printing, and security etc.) into extremely broad-based economic effects. As birthrates decline and societies continue to age, MICE is considered one of the critical initiatives for further industrial development in many regions, including Hachioji.
